Do you charge a service fee to come to our house or office and look at all our keys?

It means changing the key that a lock will accept. You keep your same lock but now use a different key to open it.

Can a broken lock be fixed or should it be replaced?

That depends whether it’s beyond repair or not. If it can be fixed, you should weigh the cost or replacement vs repair. Often, it costs less to install a brand new lock than to fix an old one.

How long does it take to install a new lock?

It usually only takes us about 20 minutes to do an install for most office or residential locks. Some high-tech, larger locks take a little longer. Our team has experience with all brands, makes, and models of locks.

What door locks are the most secure for my home?

That depends how much security you want and the kinds of doors you have. For example, the most secure doors are usually electronic locks, are keyless, and include deadbolts.

Is it possible to obtain new keys for a padlock?

You can but it usually costs more than it’s worth. It almost always makes more sense to cut off the old lock and install a brand new one.

Can any lock be picked?

Most older locks can be picked. However, newer electronic, keyless locks can’t be picked. To get into them, technicians use specialized, high-tech equipment.

Can I use the same key for all of my locks?

Yes, that’s what Master Key systems are all about. You use a single key to get into multiple locks. Anyone without the “master” key will have to use a unique key on each of the locks. For residential purposes, you can simply re-key the locks and create a master key system.

Is it really possible to open a door with just the swipe of a credit card?

Of course. In most offices and motels, keyless entry systems are becoming the standard way to equip doors. Many homes have them as well.

I am locked out of my apartment. Can you help me get in?

Yes, we can definitely help you regain access to your apartment. Specifically with apartments, some property owners have specific guidelines regarding the types of locks they allow, so if the lock needs to be damaged in order to gain entry, we might not have the exact same lock on hand and can return at a later date to replace the damaged lock.

Master keys can open every lock in their system, but only a holder of the master key has this power. Others need to use a unique key on each lock in the system. You’ve probably seen office managers, security guards, and maintenance workers with master keys.

Do you work on electronic lock systems?

Of course, our technicians can handle every type, brand, and style of electric lock and electric locking system.

Should I change all the locks when I move into a new home?

We suggest you do, even if your realtor disagrees. Even in new homes, you have no way of knowing who has keys. So, why not opt for the most secure method and change all the locks when you move in. If you want something less complex, you can get the locks re-keyed, which means you’ll not need to fully replace them but will be able to use a new, unique key to open them.

Should I change the locks if I lose my keys?

It’s up to you, but many people do so for the purpose of security. The fact is that you just don’t know who could find your lost keys and try to rob your home or damage it. If there’s even a small chance that the person who finds your keys knows who you are or where you live, it’s wise to change your locks as a precaution.

We can. Our professional team members can change locks, re-key them, deal with master key systems, and handle any locking system on commercial office buildings.

What if I can’t verify that the car/house/office is mine or I should be in there?

We’ll not be able to help you unless you have ID or authorization from the owner of the office/home/vehicle. This is a standard locksmith industry practice controlled by state laws.

Do I need to change my locks or just have my existing locks re-keyed?

It depends on several factors that are specific to each job. You should know that “changing” means replacing the entire lock mechanism. Re-keying simply means changing the cylinder so the lock can be opened with a different key. Usually, you’ll want re-keying done rather than changing the locks.
